Year 8’s first workshop this academic year was on Saturday 14 November. The group met at Trefnant Village Hall to work in clay, with artist Wendy Lawrence showing them how to make abstract pieces from high quality firing clay. Wendy took the end results away for firing.
On Saturday 5 December, the group met in Ruthin’s Naylor Leyland Centre to work with artist Mandy Coates. Using a variety of different sized reeds and willow, the group made some beautiful garden decorations and some small Christmas decorations for their Christmas trees.
On Sunday 10 January 2016, our year 8 group worked with Lisa Carter, exploring the Jerwood Makers Open Exhibition at Ruthin Craft Centre. Similarly to the year 7 group the day before, they explored the installations in the main gallery space before creating their own installations back in the Education Space, some choosing to work in small groups whilst others did individual installations. Amazing results!!
