Our new members, from Year 7, had their first Criw Celf masterclass at Rhyl Town Hall on Saturday 17 October. Each new member was given their Criw Celf art pack, which contains various high quality paints, pastels, pencils and a large sketch book. Artist Maria Hayes went through each item in their pack with them, showing the group how to make best use of their new pack.
Criw Celf’s Year 7 group met for the second time on Sunday 15 November. Working at Ruthin Craft Centre, Wendy Lawrence was the artist putting the group through their paces, showing them various techniques for working with clay in an abstract way. There were some wonderful pieces made!
The first masterclass of 2016 took place on 9 January at Ruthin Craft Centre. Artist Lisa Carter took the group around the Jerwood Makers Open Exhibition in the main galleries; the exhibition was installation based and after some sketching and exploring in the gallery space, the group went back to the Education Room where they were given a weird and wonderful array of materials with which to make their own installations.
