Artist Lisa Carter has been working with our Criw Celf Bach group in Rhyl for several months, using a number of different mediums. On Saturday 16 May, a major chess tournament was held in the large auditorium at Rhyl Town Hall and our members were lucky enough to be allowed in (very, very quietly) to see the tournament underway. Once back in the classroom (and able to talk again!), the group looked at the work of a number of different artists who have used chess boards, chess figures and grids in their work, before setting about devising their own chess inspired artworks. The results are absolutely wonderful and the group are very keen to continue with the theme. We will creating a giant art chessboard at our next workshop … watch this space!
