Last week Criw Celf members took part in a special end of year master class run by artist Mai Thomas at Nant Gwrtheyrn.
Known for its beautiful scenery and home to a variety of birds and wildlife this was the perfect location for the Criw Celf members to spend the beginning of the morning sketching images of birds.
Mai Thomas then demonstrated to the class how they could transform their 2D drawings into 3D models using a variety of different papers, tape and wire. By the end of the morning we had a room full of little birds, each expressing an individual character.
After a trip down to the beach in the afternoon to collect pebbles, seaweed and grass the Criw Celf members set to work on producing homes for their little birds. A lid was then popped on top of the birds and exhibited on Mai Thomas’s cabinet of curiosities.
